Nicole and Eric on "Days of Our Lives"
Nicole (Arianne Zucker) starts her community service working with Eric (Greg Vaughan) at the Horton Center on the June 26, 2017 episode of “Days of Our Lives.” NBC

She was relieved when she wasn’t forced to do jail time after she kidnapped Holly and took her abroad, but angered when she learned when her court-mandated community service meant she would be working with Eric. However, despite her annoyance, Nicole will begrudgingly begin her sentence at the Horton Center on the Monday, June 26 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

After kidnapping Holly from Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), and taking her to Canada, Nicole (Arianne Zucker) eventually returned to Salem to say goodbye to Brady (Eric Martsolf) when he was dying on the NBC soap. Though she was initially set to face a hefty prison sentence for the crime she committed, Chloe spoke on her behalf at her hearing, and she was given the reduced terms of community service and probation. However, she then learned she would serve out the community service part of her sentence by working at the Horton Center, where Eric (Greg Vaughan) is running the show.

Despite everything he did to help her escape from Deimos’ (Vincent Irizarry) captivity in Greece, Nicole still can’t forgive Eric for driving drunk last New Year’s Eve and causing the car accident which led to Daniel’s death. Because of him, Nicole lost her fiancé, and Holly no longer has her biological father, even though his heart still beats in Brady’s chest. Though she has since found new love again with Brady, Nicole can’t forgive that past discretion, meaning that working alongside him through a court mandate will be difficult for her to swallow.

However, she will also have no choice but to work with him, because while the court-mandated sentence was always something she planned to serve out so she could avoid jail, the need to remain on the right side of the law is more important than ever for Nicole.

Chloe resumed custody of Holly after the infant was returned to Salem. However, as she planned to leave town and go back to Chicago, she realized how much still keeping Nicole’s daughter from her was hurting her former best friend. She then decided that she would do the honorable thing and give Holly back to Nicole and Brady, news which delighted the pair.

However, when Chloe tried to make things legal, a judge put a stop to it. Nicole had been ruled as unfit to be a mother when the two women initially took the custody battle to court, and because of that, she cannot have legal custody of her daughter. Because Chloe, who had been Nicole’s surrogate, relinquished her rights when she gave Holly to Nicole, the young infant is now not only not in Chloe’s care, but is now also being placed in foster care, with only Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) receiving rights to visit with her.

Though the judge seemed to indicate it wouldn’t be likely he’d change his mind, he did concede that he might reconsider things in a couple of months, provided Nicole remained on the right side of the law. Now, in the hopes it may eventually give her the chance to get her daughter back, Nicole knows she not only has to complete her community service, but she needs to make sure she gets along with Eric while she does it, as her future as a potential mother will depend on it.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
