A worker from iPhone Plant in China committed suicide after an iPhone prototype went missing, a report confirmed by Apple.

The worker is identified as Sun Danyong, 25-year-old, of product communications and in-charge of Foxconn. Foxconn is a major manufacturing firm in China, a longtime partner of Apple in producing devices like iPods and iPhone.

We are saddened by the tragic loss of this young employee, and we are awaiting results of the investigations into his death, Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet told CNET on Tuesday. We require our suppliers to treat all workers with dignity and respect.

Sun Danyong was responsible for shipping 16 iPhone prototypes to Apple's Cupertino, Calif. headquarters when one of those prototypes went missing. Foxconn launched an investigation that led to the search of Sun's apartment where he was reportedly found dead.
