It looks like "Rocket League" is about to do the time warp, as developer Psyonix has announced that the DeLorean from the "Back to the Future" trilogy is coming to the game. The car was used to go through different time periods in the films and has remained an iconic vehicle in the history of cinema.

According to the official PlayStation blog, the downloadable content (DLC) will be available on Oct. 21, a date very important to "Back to the Future" fans. It was the date when Marty McFly travelled back in time during "Back to the Future Part II," which some consider to be the best film in the series.

The inclusion of the DeLorean in "Rocket League" is a goal that the developers have fantasized about for quite some time, so it’s nice seeing the legendary vehicle in the game. While the lack of a Christopher Lloyd voice over is a bit disappointing for fans, it’s still a nice surprise for fans of the film series.

Fans of the series will be happy to see the vehicle recreated in all of its glory, from the shiny blue layer around certain parts, to the overall look. The vehicle even comes with the "Burn Rubber" Rocket Trail whenever it moves, adding another layer of nostalgia to the DLC pack.

Those interested in using the DeLorean to score some points in "Rocket League" can purchase the "Back to the Future Car Pack" for $1.99, Polygon reported. It will be interesting to see if the pack has more content than the DeLorean, since it isn’t available separately.

Other DLC includes the recently released "Revenge of the Battle-Cars Pack" which costs $3.99. The pack features a number of new cars that the player can use during intense games with other players.

"Rocket League" has been considered a surprise hit by both critics and fans, mixing up football with cars in ways many people didn’t imagine. The downloadable title has been given plenty of praise and might be one of the more underrated titles of 2015. Those interested in something a bit different should give the title a chance.
