Designer Michael Costello is thrilled to spot Caitlyn Jenner wearing a dress that he had originally made for Kim Kardashian. The dress was first seen on Kim during a trip to Mexico last year. It reappeared on a promo video for “I Am Cait,” but this time on Caitlyn Jenner.
The light and flowing peach-hued dress was seen on Caitlyn for one of the promo videos for the eight-part document series which will start airing on E! on July 26. According to a report by E! Online, Costello spotted the dress and was amazed to see it on Caitlyn.
"Oh my God, that's crazy. I can't believe it — she's wearing my dress," Costello said. The designer also noted that during the airing of the special “Keeping Up With the Kardashians: About Bruce,” he already spotted some fabric in Caitlyn’s Malibu home, which he suspected to be the dress. Seeing it on her for the promo video confirmed his suspicions.
He explained that the dress was originally made for Kim and she wore it during her post-honeymoon trip to Mexico last year. She went on the trip with her new husband Kanye West and their baby daughter North.
"I originally made that dress for Kim," Costello explained. "That's why it's a little short [on Caitlyn],” explained Costello. This would not be the first time that Caitlyn had been borrowing clothes from her stepdaughter. In fact, also in “About Bruce,” she admitted to Kim that she had stolen an outfit from her closet. Kim was shocked but amused to learn about it.
Caitlyn then proceeded to show Kim her female clothes and Kim sorted through them. She gave Caitlyn some style advice and put together some outfits for her. Caitlyn then asked if she could say that Kim is her official stylist, but Kim said that she wanted to see how Caitlyn’s female style would look once she has fully transitioned before she would put her name on it.
Just a few months later, Kim has firmly put her stamp on Caitlyn’s style choices by letting her wear one of her own dresses. Caitlyn has so far impressed with her fashion sense and has admitted during her ESPYs speech that getting it right for the fashion police is harder than she anticipated.
