It's unknown whether "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" will be released in the early, middle or later part of 2014, but at least it's coming. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill content pack for "Diablo 3," though. "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" could reshape "Diablo 3" into a darker, item-hunting driven image.

The official press release for "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" says the game will offer a "dark and terrifying new chapter" in the "Diablo" franchise. What's more, the press release promises "substantial updates to the loot experience."

Whether "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" fulfills the above promises or not remains to be seen. At the very least, though, it seems that "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" will try to steer "Diablo 3" back toward a macabre experience that's focused on making item-hunting the addictive click-fest it used to be in past "Diablo" games.
