Diamond White was one of the best singers to audition on Wednesday night’s episode of “The X Factor” in San Francisco.

The 13-year-old from Los Angeles said she and her mother live in a “shoebox” apartment and even share a bed. If she were to win the $5 million, she would support her mother and get her own room.

“My dad doesn’t really associate himself with me. So yeah, I don’t have a dad,” she explained when asked about her family.

The judges had endured a long day of subpar performances, and Simon Cowell seemed perturbed before Diamond White took to the stage.

Britney Spears cheerfully greeted the 13-year-old singer and asked her what she wanted to sing.

Diamond seemed unsure, so she asked, “Um, you guys wannna hear—“ but before she could finish, Cowell cut her off.

“Please don’t say Adele,” he told her, as if it would sound like nails on a chalkboard to his ears. “Please. I want to hear something that’s going to make you stand out.”

“Okay,” she decided. “I have ‘This Is A Man’s World.’”

Cowell reiterated to the hopeful contestant, “Diamond, you’ve got to be fantastic.”

She assured Cowell that she would be, and he changed his attitude before she even got to the chorus.

Diamond White became one of the few contestants who brought the entire audience to their feet.

L.A. Reid, who was bobbing his head throughout the young singer’s routine, told her, “Your mother got it right. You are a diamond.”

“I think that you worked that stage and you have a sparkle in your eye… which I think is called ‘The X Factor,’” Demi Lovato added.

Spears didn’t have much to add except to say, “I feel like you’re amazing.”

Finally Simon Cowell gave White his verdict:

“Well Diamond, it’s ironic that you sang the song “It’s A Man’s World’ when you plainly proved that it isn’t-- 13 years-old you just blew the roof off here. I think you are incredible, Diamond. I absolutely loved it.”
