DICE just launched the Scarif DLC and X-Wing VR Mission for 2015’s “Star Wars: Battlefront.” Additionally, EA announced that the game will be available next week from the company’s free game library, EA Access.

EA Access is a subscription service wherein users will be able to get EA-published games for free. The service costs $5 a month, or $30 a year, so the “free” games are just a benefit for those already paying for the service. A membership also grants players with a 10 percent discount on other digital content from EA, as well as early access to demos and trials of upcoming games.

The addition of “Star Wars: Battlefront” on Dec. 13 will bring EA’s free game library to a total of 39 games. Unfortunately for gamers on the PlayStation 4, the free version of “Battlefront” will only be available on the PC and Xbox One version of EA Access, according to GameSpot. There’s no word yet if the company is planning on releasing a PS4 version of the game for EA Access.

The addition of “Star Wars: Battlefront” next week also seems appropriate considering that “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will be hitting theaters next Friday. Speaking of “Rogue One,” developer DICE also just launched the Scarif DLC and the Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission for “Star Wars: Battlefront.”

The new DLC features a new mission set on planet Scarif, the beach planet that’s been prominently present in most of the promos for the “Rogue One” film. The Scarif DLC will task players to infiltrate an imperial base to gather information for the Rebellion. The mission will involve space battles as the rebels try to go through the planet’s shields, as well as ground skirmishes, according to Shack News.

The new mission also introduces a couple of new playable characters from the film, Jyn Erso for the Rebellion and Director Orson Krennic for the Empire. The rebels will only be able to win the mission by extracting the imperial intelligence, while the Empire will win if players are able to stop the rebels.

The last and probably the most important addition to “Star Wars: Battlefront” is the new PlayStation VR mission. This mode will put players inside the cockpit of an X-Wing on a mission to escort a U-Wing carrying imperial intelligence. Players must fight off TIE Fighters and Imperial Star Destroyers in order to escape through hyperspace to deliver the intelligence to Yavin 4.
