Disney Star Tiffany Thornton’s Husband Chris Carney Dies In Car Crash The Same Week As Actress Mourns Loss Of Best Friend

Disney star Tiffany Thornton’s husband Chris Carney died Friday in a single-car crash in Garland County, Arkansas. Carney, who starred on MTV’s “Twentyfourseven,” was killed along with another man identified as Ezekiel Blanton.

TMZ reports that the accident happened when the car, driven by Blanton, flew off the road while going around a curve and struck a tree. Carney, 35, and Blanton were both pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Arkansas911news.com, the car was traveling "westbound on Highway 70 East when it failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle began to rotate coming out of the curve, and the driver lost control.” The news outlet also stated that one person was thrown from the car upon impact.

Thornton, the star of Disney's now-canceled "Sonny With a Chance," has not commented on the loss of her husband, but the news comes in the same week the 29-year-old actress lost her best friend. On Thursday, Thornton took to Instagram to mourn the loss of Brittany Blanton.

“I keep thinking this can’t be real. One of my very best friends is gone, and the place she holds in my heart will never be filled," she wrote. "Brittany was one of the coolest people I’ve ever known, filled with the loudest and most contagious laughter, a huge heart, a beautiful smile and an unbelievable faith in others that not a lot of people have. It was such a blessing having her stand by me in my wedding and I was honored to stand by hers in hers. … You will forever be missed. Reserve me a spot next to you in Heaven BB, I know I’ll see you there again one day.”

It's not yet clear if Brittany Blanton and Ezekiel Blanton were related.

Singer and former "Sonny with a Chance" star Demi Lovato commented on Carney's death via Twitter shortly after the news broke Friday. According to M magazine, her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama is the godfather to Thornton and Carney's eldest child, Kenneth James Carney.
