The U.S. dollar extended declines versus the Japanese yen on Tuesday after a report showed U.S. consumer confidence fell steeply in June after rising for three months.

The dollar fell 1 percent versus the yen to trade at 88.47 yen JPY=, a session low.

The euro also extended declines, falling briefly more than 1 percent against the dollar and 2 percent versus the Japanese yen. It touched session lows of $1.2153 EUR= and of 107.51 yen EURJPY=.
