The dollar fell against the yen and euro on Friday after data showed the U.S. economy shed 131,000 jobs in July, roughly double the losses economists had expected, stoking more worries about the economy.

The dollar fell to 85.49 yen JPY= from around 86.00 yen before the data. It was down 0.4 percent and close to an eight-month low touched earlier this week. The euro rose to $1.3210 EUR= from around $1.3180 before the data.

Private employers added 71,000 jobs, which was also fewer than the 90,000 expected by economists in a Reuters poll.
