The dollar was near its lowest point versus the euro on Thursday after hitting a new low versus the currency the a day earlier.

U.S. data showed on Thursday that housing starts fell by 11.9 percent in March. Consumer prices in the same month were up less than expected at 0.3 percent.

The dollar was at 1.5930, near an all time low of $1.5980. The dollar was at 102.09 yen after stocks in the Japan rose following a strong showing for U.S. stocks on Wednesday.
