Stocks added to gains in late morning trade on Thursday, pushing all three major U.S. stock indexes up more than 2 percent each.

Stronger second-quarter corporate earnings and outlooks boosted indexes along with a report showing sales of previously owned homes in the United States rose faster than expected in June.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 181.30 points, or 2.04 percent, to 9,062.56. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> jumped 21.00 points, or 2.20 percent, to 975.07. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 39.94 points, or 2.07 percent, to 1,966.32.
