The Dow industrials and the S&P 500 reversed their initial bounce on Friday and Nasdaq trimmed gains following a report that showed U.S. consumer sentiment soured in early July, slipping to its weakest level since March.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 48.37 points, or 0.59 percent, at 8,134.80. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> fell 4.72 points, or 0.53 percent, at 877.96. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 1.95 points, or 0.11 percent, at 1,754.50.
