The Dow and S&P 500 extended losses in late-morning trading on Friday, falling more than 2 percent amid worries over lower-than-expected U.S. job gains in May and the European debt crisis.

The Nasdaq fell more than 2 percent earlier in the session.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 223.25 points, or 2.18 percent, at 10,032.03. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 23.32 points, or 2.11 percent, at 1,079.51. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 45.13 points, or 1.96 percent, at 2,257.90.
