Phil Robertson, the "Duck Dynasty" patriarch, outspoken antigay icon and promoter of teenage brides, is adding another, uh, feather in his cap, with news that the popular A&E reality-TV show about his duck-hunting family of colorful Louisiana self-described "white trash" is now launching its own line of guns, to be manufactured by Mossberg.
According to Yahoo Finance, "O.F. Mossberg & Sons is ... the oldest family-owned firearms maker in America and the largest pump-action shotgun maker in the world. Mossberg has more than 100 design and utility patents to its name. Shotguns are the company's specialty, but it also produces rifles; accessories such as barrels, choke tubes and magazines; and hunting apparel ... The company is a subsidiary of Mossberg Corporation, which also owns shotgun maker Maverick Arms."
The company made news last year when it was reported to be considering leaving its longtime home base in Connecticut, site of the Newtown school massacre.
Robertson also made news himself recently when the A&E Network reversed the suspension it imposed on him following his interview with GQ magazine that sparked protests for his comments pertaining to African-American and gay people.
According to media reports this week, the guns, which will include nine shotguns, two semiautomatic rifles and one semiautomatic pistol, will sport the inscribed motto "Faith. Family. Ducks."
Here are some videos of advertisements for the line.
