More details about the most awaited role playing game today, “Final Fantasy VII Remake,” have surfaced. These details, according to a new report, indicates that the game (or episode) will be bigger than anticipated, larger than any “Final Fantasy” title to date.

Previously, Square Enix was reported to have expanded on the original game’s storyline -- so much that the game will need to be stuffed into two Blu-ray discs. Game producer Yoshinori Kitase reportedly said that the “Remake” is going to feature a whole lot of content, starting with the events that happen in the in-game world of Midgar.

Kitase-san said he couldn’t say anything more about what happens to the game after the Midgar part as the whole development team doesn’t know what to do with it. Now, in an interview, Kitase himself said bigger things are coming -- episodes as large as a standalone “Final Fantasy” title.

That big?

Gaming consoles in decades past aren’t as powerful as the gaming consoles of today. When the original “Final Fantasy VII” was released in 1997, it was characterized with one of the best storylines in any RPG, some of the most lovable and memorable characters in any game (as obvious in the screams of people when Tifa was revealed), and became one of the most celebrated titles ever.

The thing is, when it was released more than two decades ago, the hardware could only do so much like present the characters in their most glorious pixelated chunky look. Now, as ComicBook noted, today’s gaming systems allowed the game’s creators to go beyond the PS1’s limitations.

“FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE goes much deeper into the world and characters of FINAL FANTASY VII than ever before,” Kitase said. “It’s a huge volume of work and data to re-imagine this world. Each game in the project will have a volume of content comparable to a standalone FINAL FANTASY.”

That big!

The first game is set in Midgar. The events in Midgar comprise about a fifth of the events in the original game. If the Midgar part contains enough gameplay content to span two Blu-ray discs, fans can expect the succeeding parts of the game (“Knights Of The Round,” anyone?) to be just as huge.

Final Fantasy VII Remake” releases Mar. 3, 2020. The game comes in three editions, and is available for preorder now.
