Elizabeth Smart, 23, was abducted in in 2002 from her home in Salt Lake City, and now ABC wants to take her on as a news contributor on stories regarding missing persons.

ABC spokeswoman, Julie Townsend stated: She'll help our viewers better understand missing person stories from someone with the perspective to know what a family experiences when a loved one goes missing. And her contributions will be focused on looking ahead, not looking back at her own story.

Smart, who was repeatedly raped, has remained calm and composed during the aftermath of her kidnapping. Her abductor, Brian Mitchell, a homeless street-preacher made Smart roam the streets from town to town until she was found by passers-by.
