'Empire' Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 9 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In 'Sinned Against'? [VIDEO]

Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) older sister Candace (Vivica A. Fox) arrived on Fox's "Empire" Season 2 and brought new family drama with her. Their other sister Carol (Tasha Smith) is now missing and blames Cookie's past for why she is on the run. The two sisters will have to put aside their differences and find Carol before it's too late on episode 9, titled "Sinned Against."

The synopsis reveals Cookie and Candace will use a criminal to help them find their sister when they travel to their hometown of Philadelphia. Saving her sister won't be the only thing that Cookie has to deal with in episode 9. Although it seemed like things were going great with her new lover Laz (Adam Rodriguez), Cookie will discover the secret that Laz is involved with the gang that kidnapped Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray). What will Cookie do when she discovers the truth about Laz?

After landing a major sponsorship deal with Pepsi in episode 8, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) will collaborate with an artist named Skye Summers (guest star Alicia Keys). Jamal is expected to connect with Summers on a "deep level" and the two are shown singing and playing piano together. Summers will be the latest artist added to Empire and she has a secret she's holding back in her music.

Anika (Grace Gealey) is starting to go a little bit crazy, especially after the shocking reveal that she's pregnant with Hakeem's child. She didn't break the news to him in episode 8, but she's shown confronting Hakeem in the promo video trying to get him to admit that he's in love with her. Anika was last seen disguised as a limo driver picking up Hakeem's current girlfriend Laura (Jamila Velazquez).

Meanwhile, the prosecutor headstrong on taking down Lucious (Terrence Howard), Roxanne Ford (Tyra Ferrell), is listed in the guest cast for episode 9. Mimi (Marisa Tomei) has been acting strangely the past few episodes around Lucious, so it is possible that Roxanne is using Mimi to get dirt on Lucious so she can send the Empire leader back to prison. Lucious always finds a way out of a trouble, but can he do it once again if it turns out Mimi is there to betray him?
