Empire” fans can't get enough of Cookie Lyon, the tough-as-nails matriarch played by Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson. Luckily, she will have some company in Season 2. On Thursday, the Fox network revealed it has cast Vivica A. Fox to play Cookie's sister in the upcoming episodes.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Fox, best known for her roles in the box-office hit “Kill Bill” and HBO's “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” will appear in the new season as the oldest sister of Cookie Lyon, a role that should showcase Fox's trademark intensity. Fans know that Cookie did not come from the most upstanding family, and they can expect the arrival of her big sister to bring some drama. However, fans will have to wait until episode 8 of the new season for Fox’s character’s debut.

Fox tweeted at her fans to confirm the announcement and let everyone know how excited she is to be part of the show.

In the Season 2 premiere, Cookie will throw a giant #FreeLucious concert in an effort, at least publicly, to get her indicted-for-murder husband, Lucious (Terrence Howard), out of prison. However, according to the premiere synopsis, Cookie will secretly be plotting, along with Andre (Trai Byers), Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), Anika (Grace Gealey) and Mimi (guest star Marisa Tomei), to take over the company from Lucious, who will be trying to run things from behind bars. Cookie could use some allies if she plans to take on her husband, but will Fox's character help or hurt Cookie's plan?
