‘Empire’ Season 3 Spoilers: Episode 8 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In ‘The Unkindest Cut’? [VIDEO]

“Empire” is getting close to its Season 3 fall finale, and based on the synopsis for next Wednesday’s episode 8, all hell is about to break lose for the Lyon clan. Andre is still trying to ruin his family’s business, Tariq wants to destroy Lucious and Jamal is still struggling with his post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to TV Guide’s synopsis for “The Unkindest Cut,” Andre (Trai Byers) sabotages Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) fashion event in order to get Nessa (Sierria McClain) in the spotlight. Cookie had Tiana (Serayah) onboard to perform at the event, but apparently the performance won’t go on as planned. The synopsis also teases: “Tariq (Morocco Omari) teams up with Leah (Leslie Uggams) to bring down Lucious (Terrence Howard); and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) hopes working with Phillip (Juan Antonio) will help him finally overcome his PTSD.”

In a sneak peek for episode 8 (seen above), viewers also get to see more of Lucious and Anika’s (Grace Gealey) complicated marriage. In episode 7, Anika caught her husband checking her out as she was getting dressed, and apparently she will use that to her advantage in next week’s episode. “Anika has found a way in with Lucious,” Gealey says in the video. “She’s taking that and using it to her advantage.”

The sneak-peek video also shows Cookie getting ready for her big fashion show, but Nessa is helping Andre ruin it. At one point in the video Nessa “accidentally” catches Tiana’s jacket on fire. “I think that Nessa has the potential to be worse than Anika,” Gealey says about the scene.

Fox also released a short promo for episode 8, which focuses primarily on Andre. At one point in the clip, Andre is heard telling Nessa that his deceased wife used to take care of him, but Nessa tells him that she’s not going to do those things for him. Cookie also senses that Andre is up to something, but isn’t sure what. “You’re changing in some way that I’m not sure I got a handle on,” she tells her son.

“Empire” Season 3 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
