Employers Created 114,000 Jobs Last Month, Unemployment Falls To 7.8%
The nation's jobless rate fell unexpectedly to 7.8 percent in September, as employers created 114,000 jobs, more than economists were anticipating.

Photo: ReutersU.S. employers created 114,000 jobs last month, more than expected, as the nation’s unemployment rate fell from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Friday that employment in September increased in health care, transportation and warehousing, but fell slightly in manufacturing.
The number of jobless people fell 456,000 last month to 12.1 million.
