EU extends merger review of Agilent, Varian deal

BRUSSELS - EU regulators have extended their review of U.S. electronics company Agilent Technologies Inc's plan to buy Varian Inc after Agilent offered remedies to tackle competition concerns. The deadline for a regulatory decision on the planned takeover was moved to Jan. 20 from Jan. 6, the European Commission's daily list of mergers under review showed on Tuesday. It gave no further details. (Reporting by Foo Yun Chee)
