The euro extended gains to rise above $1.33 on Friday for the first time since May after a weaker-than-expected U.S. payrolls report added to worries that the U.S. economic recovery is faltering.

The euro rose as high as $1.3318 EUR=, according to Reuters data, its highest level since early May. It was 0.9 percent firmer on the day. (Editing by; Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
