Shares in Europe ticked lower on Thursday after opening gains.

Decliners included U.K. home builders such as Taylor Wimpeydown 4.9 percent, and Barratt Developments which dropped 3.3 percent. Also lower were banks including UBS. The German DAX 30 dropped 0. 2percent to 6,764 and the U.K. FTSE 100 slipped 0.1 percent to 5,908.
