David Letterman, Uma and Oprah
The Academy probably won’t be asking David Letterman to host the Oscars again. When Letterman hosted the 67th Annual Awards Show in 1995, he kicked off the ceremony by poking fun at Oprah Winfrey’s and Uma Thurman’s names. “Oprah. Uma. Uma. Oprah,” he said. “Have you met Keanu?” The joke fell flat. Reuters

David Letterman, who normally has avoided political controversies throughout his long career as a television talk show host-comedian, attacked real estate tycoon Donald Trump as a racist.

During an interview with TV psychologist/talk show host Dr. Phil, Letterman was unusually strident and serious in his verbal assault on Trump. He even suggested he might not have Trump back on the show.
