The 98,200 barrel per day Hibernia offshore oil project southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, was unaffected by hurricane Bill, a spokeswoman for Exxon Mobil Corp. said on Monday.

Hibernia wasn't in the path of Bill, the first named hurricane of the year. However the company has not yet had a chance to assess any damage to its Sable Offshore Energy Project off the coast of Nova Scotia, which was closer to the center of the storm that passed through the region on Sunday.

Exxon spokeswoman Margot Bruce-O'Connell said a team had been sent to one of Sable's platforms on Monday morning and other assessment teams would soon be dispatched.

Employees were evacuated from the Sable project last week before the storm arrived. Gas production had already been shut down for scheduled maintenance.
