Facebook Inc. (Nasdaq:FB) Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg said she had planned to be on the Asiana flight that crash-landed Saturday at San Francisco International Airport. Sandberg, along with her family and other Facebook executives, switched to an United flight at the last minute to use reward miles, and arrived in San Francisco from Seoul just 20 minutes before Flight 214 crashed, according to a post on her Facebook page.

Taking a minute to be thankful and explain what happened. My family, colleagues Debbie Frost,Charlton Gholson and Kelly Hoffman and I were originally going to take the Asiana flight that just crash-landed. We switched to United so we could use miles for my family's tickets. Our flight was scheduled to come in at the same time, but we were early and landed about 20 minutes before the crash. Our friend Dave David Eun was on the Asiana flight and he is fine.

Eun, an executive at Samsung, used Twitter to post some early information and images from the crash that killed two passengers and injured more than 180. The tail of the Boeing 777 hit the ground just moments before landing, causing the plane to spin out of control.

“Thank you to everyone who is reaching out - and sorry if we worried anyone,” Sandberg added on her Facebook post. ”Serious moment to give thanks.”
