“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (8 p.m. on ABC)

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will kick off its series premiere right after the battle of New York in “The Avengers” movie. With the existence of superheroes and aliens now public knowledge, the series will deal with how the world “is trying to come to grips with this new reality.”

Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), who was believed to have died during the battle of New York, is back and keeping an eye on a mysterious enemy group called the Rising Tide. With the Rising Tide developing as a possible threat, Agent Coulson assembles a “small, highly select group of agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D.” (S.H.I.E.L.D. stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division.)

The pilot will find the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents on their first assignment – track down an ordinary man “who has gained extraordinary powers … powers that could have devastating consequences.”

Joss Whedon alum J. August Richards will guest star along with “How I Met Your Mother” star Cobie Smulders, who will be reprising her “Avengers” role as Agent Maria Hill.

“NCIS” (8 p.m. on CBS)

“NCIS” will kick off its 11th season with an explosion at a D.C. event in “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.” A casualty connected to the agency will change the perspective of Department of IG Investigator Richard Parsons (guest star Colin Hanks) on Gibbs and the NCIS team. With the explosion somehow tied to DiNozzo and McGee, the two will investigate the case without their badges.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” (9 p.m. on CBS)

Season 5 of “NCIS: Los Angeles” will find Sam and Deeks recovering from their traumatic torture in episode 1, “Ascension.” But the torture will have lasting impact on their personal and professional relationships … and their lives are still in danger.

“The Goldbergs” (9 p.m. on ABC)

Set in the ‘80s, geeky 11-year-old Dam documents his crazy loving family with a video camera. Fans will meet the whole gang, which includes the smothering mother, Beverly, the hot tempered father, Murray, the terrifying yet hot sister, Erica, middle child syndrome stricken Barry, and crazy but lovable grandpa, “Pops,” The pilot will kick off with the hilarious drama that ensues when Pops buys a new sports car and lets Barry take it for a spin.

“Trophy Wife” (9:30 p.m. on ABC)

Reformed party girl Kate becomes Pete’s third wife in this new sitcom. After literally falling into his arms at a karaoke bar, she marries Pete a year later and gets an “insta-family” which includes three stepchildren and two ex-wives.

“Chicago Fire” (10 p.m. on NBC)

“Chicago Fire” returns to NBC for its second season with “Prove It.” The firehouse is dealing with the looming threat of another attack from an arsonist, which the team deals with their own personal issues including new responsibilities and paternity suspicions.

“Persons of Interest” (10 p.m. on CBS)

Back for its third season, “Persons of Interest” will kick off during Fleet Week. The latest person in danger is a U.S. naval officer in town. But with “so many sailors flooding the streets of New York City,” Reese and Shaw have a difficult time finding the officer.

“Lucky 7” (10 p.m. on ABC)

In the new ABC series, a group of seven gas station employees in Astoria, Queens, win the lottery after chipping into a pool for months. Their lives will completely change.
