Sorry, “Fifty Shades Darker” fans. Charlize Theron might not be the new Mrs. Robinson. The South African actress was recently asked about the role and revealed that she didn’t know anything about the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequel.

“I hadn't heard that one,” Theron told E! Online. “Wow, I'm just learning so much about myself on this carpet tonight.”

Theron, 39, was rumored to play Elena Lincoln, aka Mrs. Robinson. She is the friend of Christian’s (Jamie Dornan) adoptive mother who introduced him to the world of sado-masochistic BDSM. Her nickname, given to her by Christian's lover, Anastasia (Dakota Johnson), comes from the fact that she seduced Christian when he was only 15.

It seems the actress wasn’t aware which role she was rumored to be up for and sarcastically said that she’d play Christian. “I'm going to play the kinky guy with the room. I need to stretch,” she joked. “I need to find something outside the box.”

Theron isn’t the only actor rumored to be playing a part in “Fifty Shades Darker.” “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” star Henry Cavill is rumored to be playing Jack Hyde, Anastasia’s new boss. Unlike Theron, Cavill, 32, didn’t deny the rumors, but he didn’t exactly confirm them either.

“How can I make this interesting?” he said to Entertainment Tonight. “I think it's probably best that I say nothing for now. … At this time, I'm not allowed to say anything.”

No official casting announcements have been made for “Fifty Shades Darker” yet, but that isn’t too shocking. The first film took quite a while to cast. “Fifty Shades of Grey” director Sam Taylor-Johnson revealed that filmmakers saw hundreds of women after they saw Johnson just to make sure she was right for the role.

“Poor girl. We wanted her, but we had to check out three or four or five hundred other girls,” Taylor-Johnson told Vanity Fair in February. “We brought her in again just to check if she was right, and then [making her read with] guys who we were considering for Christian.”

If the team takes that much time to fill other vital roles, like Mrs. Robinson and Jack Hyde, it might be a while before fans know anything about the “Fifty Shades Darker” cast.

“Fifty Shades Darker” hits the big screen on Feb. 10, 2017.
