At San Diego Comic-Con 2014, DC introduced Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in the coming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” film. Fans have been waiting for a new Diana Prince since Linda Carter hung up her golden lasso in 1979. After a failed TV pilot for NBC with Adrianne Palicki in 2011, many fans wondered when they would see another incarnation of Wonder Woman, and now they finally have one. So who is Gal Gadot?

1. She is tough; The Israeli actress served a mandatory two years in the Israeli military, according to her official Facebook page. Since Wonder Woman is an Amazonian warrior princess, Gadot should be able to realistically hold her own in fight scenes.

2. She is a model: While serving in the army, Gadot was starting a modeling career. She won Miss Israel in 2004 at age 18 and started modeling for brands such as Perry Ellis and La Perla Lingerie, and she eventually appeared on the cover of Maxim. This isn’t really surprising since the first image of Gadot as Wonder Woman looks like this:

3. This isn’t her first action film: The actress appeared in “Fast and Furious,” “Fast Five” and “Fast and Furious 6” as Gisele. She seems to work with big names in Hollywood quite often. Gadot will appear alongside Aaron Paul and Kate Winslet in “Triple Nine” next year as well.

4. She isn’t going anywhere: Gadot didn’t sign on just for “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” She also signed on for “Justice League” and a solo “Wonder Woman” movie, according to Variety. Of course, each film is dependent on how successful its predecessor is, but it looks like audiences could be seeing Gadot in the Wonder Woman costume for quite some time.
