Arrow
"Arrow" and "The Flash" will crossover once again in episode 8 of their respective seasons as heroes (L-R) Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Barry Allan (Grant Gustin), join forces to take down a mysterious new villain. CW

The world of CW superhero shows is about to get a lot bigger after the upcoming crossover event between “The Flash” and “Arrow.” With the December two-part storyline poised to set up the first episode of the network’s upcoming “Legends of Tomorrow” spinoff, one of the key actors in the universe is speaking out about what fans can expect.

Stephen Amell, who got this entire expanded TV universe started in 2012 with the premiere of “Arrow,” spoke to ComicBook.com about what fans can expect from the superhero packed event when his crime-fighting archer meets the meta-human speedster once again. It turns out that both Star City and Central City are going to have an overabundance of power players to combat their latest threat.

“We shot a scene that had, like, nine superheroes in it,” Amell, who plays The Green Arrow told the outlet. “Nine people with either powers or super-suits. It was an amazing thing to look out over the scene and see the world that has been built over the course of three-plus years.”

It seems that, with the show needing to introduce most of its new team to the audience, it will require a visit from some of the “Legends” characters. However, with both “The Flash” and, especially, “Arrow” already sporting a pretty bloated cast of superheroes, don’t expect every member of “Legends” to take center stage just yet. As previously reported, a new teaser image released for the crossover event features all four superheroes that currently make up Team Arrow as well as The Flash (Grant Gustin), making five total. The image also showcased the first real look at fully suited-up Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée), who will both be key characters in the two-part crossover storyline.

According to the recently released plot synopsis (via Hitfix) for the episodes, Hawkgirl’s alter ego, Kendra Saunders, is targeted by a new villain named Vandal Savage (Casper Crump). She’s previously been featured on “The Flash” but will soon don her full character costume and fight alongside the rest of the Legends. As TV Line notes, with seven of the nine heroes mentioned by Amell accounted for in the upcoming episode of “Arrow,” odds are good the other two will be the recently resurrected characters White Canary (Caity Lotz) and Atom (Brandon Routh) from “Arrow.” Both characters were presumed dead on the show, and the majority of the “Arrow’s” fourth season has been dedicated to explaining their return ahead of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

If that ends up being true, then the only heroes that won’t be present for the 2015 crossover are Firestorm (Victor Garber), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), as ScreenRant notes. However, most of these characters have already been introduced in some form or another on “The Flash,” meaning that they won’t require a lot of preamble before taking the stage on “Legends of Tomorrow” at a yet-to-be announced premiere date in 2016.
