With only two episodes left in Season 1 of “The Flash,” fans are getting closer to seeing Dr. Wells/Reverse Flash’s (Tom Cavanaugh) plan in action. Luckily, Barry (Grant Gustin) would have some help in episode 22 in the form of two very special guests. How would it all go down in “Rogue Air?”

When the episode began, Barry was assuring Iris (Candice Patton) that he would find Eddie (Rick Cosnett) soon. However, he did not have a plan to put her mind at ease.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) discovered a high-power battery in Dr. Wells’ old wheelchair. He hypothesized that the mysterious power source was why the Reverse Flash was so much faster than Barry.

The discovery was interrupted when Cisco noticed that someone was trying to turn on the particle accelerator. Barry realized that it was Wells and that the reason he had not been able to find the villain was because he had never left S.T.A.R. Labs! Barry, Cisco and Joe (Jesse Martin) rushed down to the particle accelerator where, sure enough, the Reverse Flash was waiting and took off running. While Barry tried to chase him down, Joe and Cisco tried to deal with Peek-a-Boo (Britne Oldford), whom Wells had set free as a distraction. The meta-human got the best of Joe and Cisco before Iris showed up to knock her out before she could kill Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker).

Then, Joe heard something and realized that Eddie was being held prisoner underneath the particle accelerator. After rescuing Eddie -- during which Iris saw the ring that Eddie had planned on giving her when he proposed -- the cop revealed that Wells had revealed his true name to Eobard Thawne and was working on a mysterious, futuristic tube. Cisco realized that the tube was a power source that Wells was using to turn on the particle accelerator.

That presented the team with a problem. If the particle accelerator turned on the five meta-humans locked away in that chamber would fry. Barry and Joe would have to find a way to transfer them to Stryker’s Island prison of “Arrow” fame. However, after the Central City Police Department refused to help and Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) turned out to be unavailable, Barry turned to Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) -- aka Captain Cold -- for help with the risky prison transfer. All Snart asked was that Barry erase his criminal record. Much to Joe’s chagrin, Barry agreed.

Meanwhile, Eddie returned to work and was giving Iris the cold shoulder. When she confronted him with the ring she found, he told her about the glimpse into the future that Wells had shown him, revealing that Iris will eventually marry Barry.

Back at S.T.A.R. labs, Cisco had outfitted an 18-wheeler to neutralize the meta-humans’ power while they took them to the airport. Snart and his sister Lisa (Peyton List) -- who continued her femme fatale treatment of Cisco -- were on hand to assist with the relocation.

When the truck got to the airport, the meta-humans, who were busy inside turning on each other in a mini-episode of “Con Air,” caught a break when the power running the power neutralizing mechanism cut out. It turned out Snart could not be trusted after all and had rigged the truck. Now all the work Barry had done all season was undone as all the meta-humans were set free.

At the Central City police station, Iris again went to Eddie, insisting that she loved him and that they chose their own destiny. However, Eddie said the problem was not the future, it was the present. He said deep down he knew all along that she loved Barry. The couple decided to break up.

Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, there was time for one more battle as Wells showed up just as the particle accelerator went online. Barry was determined not to let Wells in and went outside to face his nemesis alone. Luckily for the Flash, he was joined by two allies -- Oliver Queen and Firestorm (Robbie Amell) -- just before the fight began. The three heroes put up quite a fight, with Oliver even sticking Wells with a high-frequency pulse to disable his speed and allow the two to have a pretty epic normal-speed fist fight. Though Wells eventually turned the tables on the Arrow, Barry saved his Starling City friend and with some more help from Oliver and Firestorm, was able to subdue the Reverse Flash. Barry finally got his man!
