Barry's (Grant Gustin, not pictured) next foe will be seeking revenge on Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh, pictured) in episode 11 of "The Flash" Season 1. The CW

In the midseason premiere of “The Flash,” Barry (Grant Gustin) decided that he would continue to fight crime with Joe (Jesse Martin) and the rest of the police – not hide away in training with Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh). That’s good, because the synopsis for episode 11 of the CW series, “The Sound and the Fury,” reveals that Barry’s next foe will be out for revenge.

According to the synopsis, the next enemy for the Flash will be an old protégé of Dr. Wells’ – Hartley Rathaway (Andy Mientus). Rathaway, in addition to his natural smarts, was affected by the particle accelerator explosion and became a meta-human – he calls himself the Pied Piper -- who can harness sound and sonic energy. He has returned to Central City to take revenge on his former mentor. The promo for the episode reveals that he believes Dr. Wells has not paid the price for his mistakes.

The synopsis also reveals that Iris (Candice Patton) will get a new job in the episode as a cub reporter and Joe will go to Eddie (Rick Cosnett) with a favor he wants to keep secret from Barry. Plus, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) might have to go back to the first day he met Rathaway at S.T.A.R. Labs to figure out how to stop the new foe.

It might be awhile before fans see some old foes again. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) were freed from jail at the end of the midseason premiere – presumably by Captain Cold’s sister. While they won’t likely show up in the next episode, it should not be too long before the group of criminal rogues comes back for more.

Will the Pied Piper take his revenge on Dr. Wells or will Barry find a way to stop him? Fans will have to wait until next week to find out. “The Flash” premieres on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on the CW.
