Amid the divorce battle between "Flip or Flop" stars Christina and Tarek El Moussa, rumors have surfaced that the latter suspected his ex-wife before the two split and hired a private investigator, In Touch Weekly reported. Christina and Tarek announced their split in December.

“When he and Christina were on the rocks, he confessed to the production crew that he suspected she was dating someone, so he hired a private investigator to follow her. He wanted to know where she was going and what she was doing,” a source told In Touch Weekly, adding that Tarek suspected the person Christina was seeing was Gary Anderson.

“It’s hard for Tarek to see Christina dating, but it’s even worse that Gary is the guy she’s with," the source added. Earlier, reports also claimed Tarek caught Christina sending inappropriate messages to Gary.

Last month, Christina was photographed when she stepped out with Gary, her new boyfriend. The new couple was seen "arm in arm" as they took an hour-long stroll through a neighborhood near Gary's home in Yorba Linda, California.

While there have been rumors about Christina cheating on Tarek, the former couple said in a statement while announcing their divorce: “Neither of us was involved in a romantic relationship with any third party prior to our separation, or believes the other was.”

Amid all the ongoing rumors, Tarek slammed "irresponsible media" for spreading "fake news" about his personal life.

The news of the El Moussas split surfaced after an altercation between the two that involved a gun. The two stars later said the incident was nothing but a "misunderstanding."

In January, Tarek filed for divorce from Christina and requested joint legal and physical custody of his two children — Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 1.

Despite their divorce, the former couple continues to film their popular HGTV show together.

On Wednesday, Tarek took to his Instagram account to share a cute picture of his daughter, saying the little one was his "valentine."
