Apple has selected Foxconn to build the company's anticipated tablet PC, DigiTimes reported on Wednesday, citing market sources. The report says the device will hit the market in Q1 2010, with initial shipments of 300,000-400,000 units.

The sources indicated the device will focus more on e-book functionality than music, and that Apple will focus on the device's long battery life, quick Internet connectivity and easy-to-use interface.

It also claimed that the device will have a 10.6-inch display, and offered speculation that Foxconn would obtain panels from its subsidiary Innolux Display.

The same source expects other players, including Hewlett-Packard, to offer similar products starting in Q2 2010, DigiTimes said.

Foxconn, the Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer, has partnered with Apple on numerous products including the iPod and the iPhone.
