Although we might not see him battling White Walkers on “Game of Thrones” anytime soon, Kit Harington isn’t done with the supernatural. The actor has signed on for Martin Koolhoven’s upcoming thriller, “Brimstone.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harington signed on for the role at the eleventh hour as principal photography on the film has already begun. He replaced former “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson, who originally announced he was taking the role during the Berlin International Film Festival.

Harington will be featured alongside fellow co-stars Dakota Fanning and Guy Pearce. Fanning will play Liz, whom Variety describes as a heroine on the run from her past that’s chased by a diabolical Preacher, played by Pearce. Not much is known about the former “Game of Thrones” actor’s role in the movie other than that he’s an outlaw of some kind who crosses paths with Liz.

The film marks Harington’s first movie role since [HUGE SPOILER ALERT] his character on the smash hit HBO series was shockingly killed off during the last few moments of the Season 5 finale. While many fans have speculated that his character isn’t as dead as he looked in the last shot of the episode, Harington previously told Entertainment Weekly that he won’t return to the show. As a result, the news of Harington’s casting in “Brimstone” is most likely welcomed news to him, but could be considered somewhat devastating to Jon Snow fans as it’s further evidence that he’s moving on with his career.

Luckily, “Brimstone” won’t be completely without its appeal to “Game of Thrones” fans. Also co-starring in the movie is Melisandre actress Carice van Houten, hopefully not playing anyone half as sadistic as her Lord of Light worshiping character on “Game of Thrones.” However, “Brimstone” is a supernatural thriller, so anything could happen.
