Game Of Thrones

It was perhaps the most anticipation for a television show trailer in history – rivaling the hype for blockbuster film trailers, such as “Star Wars: Episode 7” and the new “Avengers” movie. Fans packed theaters across the country Thursday night for the IMAX theatrical release of the last two episodes of “Game of Thrones” Season 4. However, the main event of the night was what followed – the first full-length trailer for “Game of Thrones” Season 5.

For those not lucky enought to be in a theater for the screenings, here are 6 things we learned from the “Game of Thrones” Season 5 Trailer.

1. Old Schemers, New Scheme

Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) seem to be plotting something big. Fans have been wondering about where Tyrion would end up after fleeing King's Landing in the Season 4 finale. Well, while the Lannister outcast clearly begins his journey to the south under some tough conditions -- the trailer shows him being dumped off a boat in a robe and a scruffy beard -- he is later shown drinking wine on a pristine balcony and talking with Varys. Tyrion says, "I'll never sit on the Iron," to which Varys replies, " you could help another climb those steps and take that seat.” Varys then goes on to describe the ideal leader for Westeros – “a ruler loved by all with a powerful army and the right family name.” "Good luck finding him," quips the ever-cynical Tyrion. "Who said anything about him," answers Varys. Are the master strategists scheming to put Daenerys (Emilia Clark) on the Iron Throne?

2. Exile Issues

Meanwhile, Jorah Mormont’s (Iain Glen) exile might not be going as smoothly. After being banished by Daenerys in Season 4, he is seen in the trailer fighting in some sort of stadium. Is he some sort of gladiator slave?

3. Eerie in the Eyrie

Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen) and Sansa Stark (Spohie Turner) seem like they are taking their relationship to a new level. While Sansa definitely still has reasons to doubt Littlefinger, right now she still needs him. For better or worse they appear to be on the same team and the trailer shows them embracing, still in the Eyrie, with Baelish giving Sansa some advice -- "Avenge them." One would assume "them" refers to her dead family. What could the duo be plotting?

4. Black and White

While it was teased in those blurry Three Eyed Raven promos, "Game of Thrones" fans Thursday saw it in IMAX clarity -- Arya (Maisie Williams) is going to the House of Black and White. The trailer shows her knocking on the mysterious ornate door. What will she find inside?

5. Wedding Bells

Season 5 will have another wedding -- and this one seems murder free! The trailer showed a shot of the already-expected nuptials between Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman). Unlike, well, every other "Game of Thrones" wedding, this one looks to be all smiles. Here's hoping!

6. New Locations

The trailer showed some of the first glimpses into the worlds the show will travel to in Season 5 – Braavos and Dorn. The sets look incredible and fans should be excited to see the new locations.

There has been no word yet on when the trailer will be made available on the Internet. The next bit of pre-season fun for fans will be the “Day in the Life” behind-the-scenes special, which premieres on HBO and HBO Go on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. EST.
