Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 9
"Game of Thrones" Season 5, episode 9: Jon Snow returns to the Wall after the epic battle at Hardhome. HBO

"Game of Thrones" Season 5 has just three episodes left, which means there should be plenty of developments this week. We know Jon Snow and Tormund are heading beyond the Wall to rescue the Wildlings trapped at Hardhome, but what other storylines can we expect to see? Let's take a look at the "Game of Thrones" Season 5, episode 8 preview for "Hardhome."

Warning: "Game of Thrones" Season 5 spoilers ahead.

Last week's episode, "The Gift," spent plenty of time setting up the major storylines. Cersei was imprisoned for her past indiscretions, Stannis was gearing up for battle, Sansa could not break free from Ramsay's grasp, Jon Snow and Tormund headed north, Samwell Tarly had to deal with the loss of Jon and Maester Aemon while Daenerys and Tyrion met in a fighting pit.

So, we know we're heading to the Wildling outpost and the "Hardhome preview" includes the return of everyone's favorite group of cannibals. Beyond the Wall, viewers get a glimpse of Rattleshirt and a massive number of Wildlings at Hardhome. Jon Snow and Tormund will have their work cut out for them trying to convince the Free Folk to abandon the establishment and go to Castle Black for safety.

"Hardhome" will be the first extended scene between Tyrion and Daenerys. "A Song of Ice and Fire" readers are still waiting for these two characters to meet, but the show decided to speed up their storylines. Jorah could still face some sort of punishment for his betrayal of Daenerys, and it will be interesting to see how she responds to the arrival of the Lannister from King's Landing.

The cells are getting quite crowded in King's Landing. Cersei joined Ser Loras and Margaery in the cells and we'll see more of the fallout from the High Sparrow's righteous judgment. Sansa appears fed up with Theon/Reek after he betrayed her in "The Gift." She did pick up something during her walk with Ramsay and maybe we'll see her take matters into her own hands as she tries to escape.

Based on previously released details, Arya's apprenticeship will be featured in "Hardhome." "Arya makes progress in her training. Sansa confronts an old friend. Cersei [Lena Headey] struggles. Jon travels," reads the "Game of Thrones" Season 5, episode 8 synopsis.

In terms of speculation, the IMDb cast list for "Game of Thrones" Season 5, episode 8, includes the Night's King and White Walkers. Of course, that needs to be taken with a huge grain of salt, but anything is possible on the show.

"Game of Thrones" Season 5, episode 8, "Hardhome" airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
