GDC 2012 live streams are available to watch the Independent Games Festival (IGF) and Game Developers Choice awards shows for free online.

The highly-anticipated annual Game Developers Conference is being held this year at the the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Calif., from March through March 9.

One of the highlights of each year's Game Developers Conference is the major awards shows, and GDC 2012 is shaping up to be no different. Here's the information about the GDC 2012 live streams that allow you to watch the March 7 IGF and Choice awards shows for free online:

The Independent Games Festival awards are designed to bestow honors upon the best video games and designers that come out of independent development companies, rather than out of mass-market development houses.

The IGF awards show will be live streamed for free online from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the evening of March 7 at GameSpot.com.

Finalists for the Seamus McNally Grand Prize in the 14th-annual IGF's awards show include the following titles: Dear Esther, Fez, Frozen Synapse, Johann Sebastian Joust and Spelunky.

The Game Developers Choice awards show will be streamed live at GameSpot.com for video game fans to watch free online between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 (Yes, the two awards show are taking place at the exact same time.)

The nominees for this year's Choice award for Game of the Year include: Batman: Arkham City, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Portal 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dark Souls.
