Italian designer Giambattista Valli has been awarded the Haute Couture appellation by Paris Fédération Française de la Couture.

The designer displayed his first couture collection in Paris in July. Generally, the designers are presented the official appellation and are granted official haute couture designer status only after they have displayed couture creations for five years. However, given the high standards of work by the designer, the federation decided on an early presentation of the prestigious award.

It was clear from his show [in July] that he has caught the attention of a new generation of customers, and he immediately took important orders for his couture... it's true that the haute couture appellation gives him legitimacy, but objectively speaking, he is already part of the system, Elle UK quoted President of Chambre Syndicale Didier Grumbach saying.

According to reports, it is only in Paris that haute couture exists and the presentation of this designation or appellation depends on certain strict criteria like the minimum number of pieces, the size of the workforce and so on.

Valli started his own line in the year 2005 after working with a series of couture designers and brands like Roberto Capucci, Fendi and Emanuel Ungaro.
