The San Francisco Giants swept the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday with a 3-2 victory, earning their sixth straight win, and taking sole possession of first place in the National League West.

Matt Cain had a solid pitching performance allowing only two runs on seven hits over 7 2/3 innings, while striking out seven. Right Fielder Nate Schierholtz added three hits including an RBI single in the bottom of the second to put the Giants ahead.

The Giants scored twice in the seventh inning on RBI hits by Andres Torres and Aubrey Huff.

Arizona mounted a brief rally in the eighth inning, scoring two runs on consecutive singles by Stephen Drew and Justin Upton.

Javier Lopez overcame a tense ninth inning by striking out consecutive Arizona batters with men on first and third, to earn his first save of the season.
