McKenzie and Baccarin on Gotham

Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) have formed a strong love on Fox's Batman origins series "Gotham." The two actors bond is so strong that it transitioned off screen into the real world.

Not only are McKenzie and Baccarin dating, the couple is expecting their first child together. The couple hasn't confirmed the pregnancy yet or that they are dating, but McKenzie retweeted a post from his sister congratulating the two of them.

While it's exciting news for the couple, what will happen to Baccarin's character on "Gotham"? Will the show keep them together and make them have a baby as well? Or do the writers have something else up their sleeves? Here are four possible ways the show can handle Baccarin's pregnancy on the show:

1. Hide The Bump: This appears to be the option the show is going with so far. E! Online obtained a picture from the set of "Gotham" of McKenzie standing beside Baccarin, who is wearing a trench coat as way to try and camouflage the baby bump. Baccarin has her arms folded across her chest, resting on the baby bump. Costume designers can continue to dress Baccarin this way and once she is a little further along in her pregnancy, they could start shooting just close-ups, sitting at tables, behind her desk or just from the shoulders up. A body double could also be used for wide shots or stunt scenes, like when she fought Barbara (Erin Richards) in Season 1.

2: Have Her Have Jim's Baby: Fans of Batman and the comics know that Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon, goes on to become Batgirl. "Gotham" is an origins show, so why not introduce Gordon's daughter? The show hasn't had any problems introducing popular villains, so it could start to reveal how some of the popular heroes who will exist in the Batman world.

Gordon and Thompkins are happy together on the show, so if it was revealed she was having his baby it wouldn't be a complete shocker. While this sounds like it would be cool to see, TVLine reports the show doesn't plan to make Baccarin pregnant on the small screen.

3. Villains Take Her Out: "Gotham" Season 2 is being called the "rise of the villains," and it appears to be going down a darker path before Batman comes of age. The villains are getting stronger and creating madness in Gotham City. GCPD could become a target of the villains and Thompkins might happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The villains could kill her to send a message to Gordon, who's trying to clean up the city. We've already seen Bruce Wayne's parents killed, could the show have Gordon suffer a great loss too?

4. Write Her Out: The writer's could choose to go a much less dramatic way and simply write Baccarin off the show. It could be a temporary move, like maybe the city gets too dangerous and Jim send her away to some place safe where she won't be harmed. There's also the possibility that Gordon could get back together with ex-girlfriend Barbara if she straightens her life out. However, this doesn't seem likely because Baccarin was promoted to a series regular for Season 2 in May, so it would be hard to see them decide to give her less of a role now.

"Gotham" Season 2 airs Mondays on Fox at 8 p.m. EDT.
