Cristina Yang hung up her scrubs for the last time during the Season 10 finale of “Grey’s Anatomy.” And we have to admit, we were feeling pretty emotional by the time “Fear (of The Unknown)” concluded. C’mon, you can’t possibly tell us we were the only ones getting choked up after Cristina and Meredith shook out their last dance to Tegan and Sara’s “Where Does the Good Go.”

But soon our trickling tears came to a halt when we looked on the brighter side: Although we’d no longer be seeing oh favorite sassy-mouthed surgeon on Thursday nights at 9, at least it’s not because Shonda Rhimes killed her off.

Check out our "Grey's Anatomy" Season 10 Finale recap here!

Seriously, we were preparing ourselves for the gut-wrenching demise of Sandra Oh’s character in episode 24 -- especially after a news reporter revealed that the Seattle mall was the building targeted by an alleged terrorist attack, the place where Cristina was running errands. Thankfully Mer’s bestie dodged the explosion and eventually made her way to Switzerland to become the newest Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

So, now that Oh has officially left her surgery-days behind her… what’s next?

“I’m going to do plays [‘Death and the Maiden’],” Oh revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, “and after that, I don’t know. I want to be as open as possible to anything that comes. I just spent a decade of producing intensely. I think I’m going to take some time to retreat and see what happens. But I’m free -- you can totally put that out there! ‘By the way, Sandra Oh is completely free July 20th when the play ends!’”

Although Oh is distancing herself from the world of “Grey’s,” she admitted it’s not a farfetched idea to see her back with a scalpel in her hand in the future. Oh yeah, we’re talking about a possible Yang reprisal!

“We talked about that when I told her I was going to leave but we haven’t talked about it again,” said Oh, explaining about the idea of her potentially coming back for the show’s series finale. “There are certain things that Shonda and I talk about once and then we leave it because we want things to happen without pressure. I told her, ‘If you guys want to finish it out however you want to finish it out, I’d be more than happy to come back. And if it doesn’t fit in that way, I totally understand. I just want you to know that I’m available.’ Who knows! I might be doing something fabulous and it might not work out but I did say, ‘Yes, of course I would.’”

Phew! That’s a relief! We were hoping Cristina would return for a last hoorah come the series’ eventual finale. What do you think of Oh possibly coming back for an episode? Sound off in the comments section below!
