“Grey’s Anatomy” fans have been seeing plenty of headlines about Izzie making some sort of return in the ABC drama’s landmark 300th episode, but they might not want to get too excited. It doesn’t sound like actress Katherine Heigl will guest star on the show.

Izzie (Heigl) will be remembered in Season 14, episode 7 along with Cristina (Sandra Oh) and George (T.R. Knight). They will not, however, appear in new scenes on the show.

Actress Sarah Drew, who plays April, explained that this week’s “Grey’s Anatomy” will remember the original set of interns when they meet some familiar looking patients.

“Cristina, George, and Izzie we’re thinking about a lot during this episode because our three guest actors on the show actually really look like them and remind the rest of the doctors of those characters,” actress Sarah Drew told Entertainment Weekly. “That causes the original group to really remember those people well and want to fight for these ones to live.”

There have been rumors about Izzie’s return to “Grey’s” since she left in the middle of Season 6. After losing her job in the hospital merger, ditching Alex (Justin Chambers) and failing to get back together with him, Izzie decided that she had to leave. She hasn’t been seen since, though the show often mentions her.

In 2015, executive producer Shonda Rhimes said that she doesn’t have much interest in bringing the character back. “No,” she told TVLine. “I’m done with that story. I’ve turned that idea over in my mind a thousand times and thought about how it would go. And I don’t think so.”

Heigl and Rhimes were rumored to be feuding after the actress decided not to submit her name for the 2008 Emmy Awards, the year after she won best supporting actress, because she didn’t think “the material” was good enough.

Heigl told Howard Stern last year that her statement was not intended to be a jab at Rhimes’ writing. She meant she didn’t feel good about her own performance, and she recalled that she apologized to Rhimes shortly after the statement started making headlines.

“So I went in to [see] Shonda and said, ‘I'm so sorry. That wasn’t cool, and I should not have said that.’ And I shouldn’t have said anything publicly. But at the time, I didn’t think anyone would notice... I just quietly didn’t submit and then it became a story, and I felt I was obligated to make my statement, and [I should have just said], ‘Shut up, Katie.’”

The 300th episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
