SNL's Guy Fieri skit that never aired pokes fun at Fieri's (played by Bobby Moynihan) "scathing" review in The New York Times. NBC

It may have never hit the airwaves but the skit "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) didn't air of Guy Fieri talking about his "scathing" New York Times review is funny nonetheless.

Fieri played by SNL's Bobby Moynihan decked out in a flame shirt with a spiky blonde 'do stops by Seth Meyers' "Weekend Update" to talk about his new restaurant, American Kitchen & Grill. However, the skit taped at dress rehearsal was cut from Saturday's live edition. NBC released the skit on Monday following the original air date.

Moynihan as Fieri shows up to discuss his Times review with Meyers but the problem is: He has not read it yet.

"I'm happier than butter on gravy, Seth. I can't believe the New York Times reviewed my new restaurant! Full throttle!"

After admitting to having not read it yet, Meyers provides him with a copy of the Times so he can check out the "scathing" review.

"What is that? Oh my god. I've never felt sicker in my life, Seth," Fieri said. "Keep in mind; all I eat is bacon bombs, which is bacon wrapped in dynamite."

Meyers then asks, "It is the New York Times, you didn't think they'd like your restaurant, did you?"

"No, but did they think they would like it?" the fictional "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," host replied. "I wear flames on my shirt and I don't bleach my roots. That doesn't exactly scream haute cuisine. It screams look out, a maniac is about to hit you with a face full of donkey sauce."

"Grouping me in with regular New York restaurants is like comparing apples and fat dirt," Moynihan's Fieri said, adding that the only people who will like his restaurant are tourists who "just shopped at the M&M store and you're wearing a foam Statue of Liberty visor," ordering his "awesome pretzel chicken tenders with a side of dump juice."

One of the best lines from Moynihan? "The New York Times reviewing my restaurant is like Architectural Digest reviewing a college dorm. My food is best served through a cloud of weed smoke."

Controversy over Fieri's new Times Suqare restaurant erupted when The Times' Pete Wells penned a review of the restaurant asking questions to Fieri about its low quality. Questions ranged from "How did nachos, one of the hardest dishes in the American canon to mess up, turn out so deeply unlovable?" and "Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste?" to the statement: "The well-meaning staff seems to realize that this is not a real restaurant."

The review prompted Fieri to appear on the "Today Show" to lambast the newspaper for the review, despite having "hosted a 160-person party at that restaurant."

"I just thought it was ridiculous," said Fieri on the show. "It really seemed like there was another agenda."

"It's a great way to make a name for yourself," he continued. "Go after a celebrity chef, that's not a New Yorker, that's doing a big concept in his second month, big way to hit it."
