Has Annette Roque Left Matt Lauer Amid Sexual Misconduct Scandal?

Just three days after news broke that he had been fired from NBC due to claims of alleged sexual misconduct, a new report suggests that former "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer's wife, Annette Roque, has left him.

According to Page Six, Roque has fled their home and is rumored to have headed back to her native Netherlands following news of his scandal. She was last seen at their home in New York's Hamptons on Wednesday.

A source told the news site that she had also taken their two younger children—daughter Romy, 14, and son Thijs, 11—out of school and that she took them with her out of the US.

"Annette has taken their two younger kids out of school and is believed to have left the US and gone to her family in her native country," the source said.

It is not known if the two children, or their eldest son, Jack, 16, are with Roque.

It is unclear if Roque is considering filing for divorce in light of the allegations against her husband of 20 years. She previously filed for divorce in 2006, claiming she suffered from "cruel and inhumane" treatment from him, and claimed he was controlling and demonstrated "extreme anger and hostility." The divorce filing was later withdrawn.

A second Page Six source now claims that the divorce filing was withdrawn because Lauer offered his wife a post-nuptial agreement at the time, offering her up to an alleged $5 million deal if she stayed in the marriage.

"Mat needed to stay in the marriage to keep his reputation as America's nicest dad. He is in fact a great, and very doting dad to his kids, but he is also a terrible husband," the source said.

Prior to his marriage to Roque, Lauer was married to Nancy Alspaugh. She spoke out in defense of Lauer after the allegations, telling Entertainment Tonight that she was standing by him and giving her 100 percent of her support, as well as that the accusations seemed out of character for him.

"I never saw him as a power monger or somebody who would abuse his position in any way," she said.
