Fans of the original 2006 sci-fi series “Heroes” may remember a little-known Zachary Quinto perfectly taking on the role of super villain Syler, or Hayden Panettiere playing the young, but physically invulnerable cheerleader Claire. Sadly, the two actors won’t be returning to their iconic roles in the upcoming miniseries “Heroes Reborn.” However, series creator Tim Kring has confirmed that certain characters may make special appearances.

“Everybody who’s coming back has been in the press,” Kring told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday. “We have a cadre of characters from the previous that will make appearances—some bigger than others, some just in a cameo way. It will be an interesting use of the older characters.”

While Panettiere, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar, Milo Ventimiglia and Quinto won’t be returning for “Heroes: Reborn,” Jack Coleman, Greg Grunberg, Masi Oka, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Christine Rose will. Jimmy Jean-Louis will also reprise his role as the Haitian. However, the new show is still in production, so it’s entirely possible that an old series favorite could change his or her mind.

“Heroes Reborn” will air 16 episodes this fall on NBC. The show will be preceded by a digital series that will introduce new characters and their backgrounds, NBC announced in February 2014.
