With Rory McIlroy pulling out in the second round with severe dental pain, Tiger Woods has a chance to jet up the leaderboard Saturday in the third round of the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Woods suffered through two bogeys on the front nine during Friday’s second round, and even put up a double bogey on the 13th, but four birdies throughout the round helped him stave off elimination.

American Luke Guthrie is the current leader after firing off seven birdies in the second round for a 7-under par, and a one stroke lead over Michael Thompson. Guthrie and Thompson will both tee-off at 1:40 p.m.

McIlroy, the defending champion, left the course Friday and later attributed his sudden exit to pain in his wisdom teeth. Earlier, McIlroy had serious trouble on the back nine with a double bogey on the 11th and needed seven shots to move past the 16th.
