Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) from “House of Cards” has a lot of enemies who either want to see him dead or humiliated.

Mahershala Ali, who plays the character’s former chief of staff, Remy Danton, told The Wrap that audiences are already expecting Underwood to get hurt one of these days. However, the show can still surprise fans by choosing the right person to hurt Underwood.

“Like maybe at some point because he’s the one closest to him, my guess would be [Doug] Stamper,” Ali said of co-star Michael Kelly’s character.

Ali said that one of his favorite scenes last season was when Freddy Hayes (Reg E. Cathey), the owner of the barbecue joint Underwood frequents, shouted at his loyal customer to get out.

“I thought it was interesting to see someone who doesn’t necessarily have that fear, fearing the repercussions of standing up to someone with status,” he said.

“There’s no higher position in the U.S. than the president, so for someone to take a stand the way he did… I loved the writing in and of itself but also the performance because Reg E. is phenomenal,” Ali added.

Meanwhile, Kelly told CNN that there is no doubt Stamper is 100 percent loyal to Underwood, so he does not see his character ever betraying his boss.

“Those two men trust each other to the ends of the Earth. They're the only two people that each of them could count on,” he asserted. “You've never seen Doug turn on Frank. We've never seen Frank turn on Doug. And they trust each other to the ends of the Earth so that's where Doug belongs. That's where he is. That's where he thrives in life.”

Kelly also said in an earlier interview that Underwood and Stamper have gone through so much together that audiences enjoy seeing them fail, succeed and “twirling our moustaches.”

“House of Cards” Season 5 will premiere sometime in 2017.
