Developer DICE previously announced that it would release an Overture Update alongside the first chapter of its Tides of War content update for “Battlefield V.” Now, the developer has provided more information on what next week’s Overture Update will include.

“First, the hottest topic being discussed is our vision with TTK (Time to Kill) and TTD (Time to Death),” DICE said on Reddit. “TTK and TTD are very closely linked. We’re seeing players die too often/too quickly and get frustrated because of it. So, we’re looking at how we can improve the experience for new players and veterans alike. This may lead to a perceived slower TTK.”

The Overture Update will include weapons balance tweaks, but it won’t have any changes that will impact the current TTK. DICE is also investigating all elements related to TTD, including damage feedback and other components that influence TTD perceptions.

“We want to achieve gunplay balance where the experience is healthy, where latency is in a good place in order to improve consistency experience across all platforms including PC and Console,” the developer explained. “We want to propose any TTK model changes to you, the community, and involve you in testing experimental changes with the goal of improving experience and create deeper gameplay potential.”

Core gameplay designer for “Battlefield V” Florian Le Bihan also noted that the TTD experience is one of their high priorities at the moment, which is why they are examining it to find any issues. Le Bihan also said that they will be experimenting with some changes related to TTK that could improve overall experience.

“This TTK experiment may take the following shape but may change as we’re still investigating how to approach,” Le Bihan said. “It may be proposed to players in-game by rolling out the new TTK changes globally to all players connecting to any server, while adding a new playlist accessible through the server browser where players can play the old (or as it is, current) TTK to compare the two experiences.”

As for other major changes that will arrive next week with the Overture Update, DICE has decided to improve the mechanics behind the teammate revive system. The developer said that revives will be faster for both the reviver and the one being revived. The ability to drag downed teammates, which was seen in previous “Battlefield V” gameplay trailer, won’t be included in the Overture Update, according to GameSpot. DICE said that they are still “investigating the feasibility around this mechanic.”

Other changes include rebalancing the Medic Class and changes to base damage and reload speeds for numerous weapons. The full list of weapon balance tweaks can be viewed here. Spectator Mode will also be improved with the addition of “Look at Player,” “Smooth Rotation” and “Camera Sway” options. DICE will publish a complete list of changes in the “Battlefield V” Overture Update patch notes next week before the update goes live on Dec. 4.
